Thomas Dybdahl went out to become something what they call a shooting-star in Norway. As a solo artist, the former guitarist of the band Quadraphonics released his first single ep "Bird" in 2000. This very first release did not gain that much success, and even the second ep from 2001, "John Wayne", was no hit single at all. Beginning with the release of his first album "... That great october sound", the first part of his gold and platin selling October series, in 2002, Thomas Dybdahl received national and even international appreciation for his unique work. Since then, and especially after the European release in 2004, Thomas Dybdahl is known as an extraordinary musician to daily growing fan base from all over the world. The mostly excellent reviews celebrate this guy from Norway as a new pop wonder that is often compared to Nick Cave, Jeff Buckley and other important solo artists. He further received the Spellemanprisen and the Alarm Award for his outstanding work.

In 2004 he teamed up with artists from the Jaga Jazzist and BigBang to the project "The National Bank" which also ran immediately into the Norwegian charts with their self-titled debut album. They do some kind of pop-rock with an electronic influence. Unfortunately they haven't been released outside Norway so far.

Thomas Dybdahl's deep and melancholic (I do not believe it is melancholic at all, but it may be what you make out of it!) songs seem to reach nearly every heart, to be romantic in a way;-). Again and again people state that they could not stop listening to his albums and that it reached a very special area in their souls. TD is also famous for his amazing concerts with his live band called "The great october sound".
